How do I activate my Tin Can?
Scan the QR code inside the box and follow the instructions to complete the set-up process. This process includes information on how to plug in the phone, connect the cords, and make your first call.
If you don't have the QR code, no worries! You can activate your phone via web browser: activate.tincan.kids and follow the instructions to complete the set-up process.

Do I need the Tin Can app?
Yes! The Tin Can companion app is used to activate and manage your device. Download the Tin Can companion app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play store.
Pre-order customers in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand will be able to download the Tin Can app when we begin shipping devices to these regions.

Does Tin Can work with mesh routers?
Yes! Tin Can can work with mesh Wi-Fi systems, though setup may take an extra step. For the smoothest connection, we recommend temporarily turning off any extra mesh nodes during setup.
Move your Tin Can closer to the main node you want it to connect to, complete the Wi-Fi connection and any updates, then turn your other mesh nodes back on. Once set up, you can move Tin Can back to its usual spot and use your full mesh network as normal.

What is Quiet time?
Quiet Time (aka shhhh mode) silences your Tin Can so it won’t ring or receive calls and also blocks ordinary outgoing calls. You can schedule it in the app to match your routine.
If calls aren’t going through, Quiet Time is often the culprit. Try toggling it off on the app’s home screen. If you use a schedule, check Manage Availability and make sure your time zone is set correctly under Account → Edit.

I have EMF exposure concerns about the Wi-Fi enabled Tin Can.
The Wi-Fi antenna in Tin Can is housed in the handset and uses a standard FCC-certified module for processing Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. It’s classified as a low-power transmitter, and full RF exposure details are available in the FCC filing under “RF Exposure.”
