Plans, Subscriptions & Billing

  • What is the difference between Can 2 Can and the Party Line subscription?

The Can 2 Can plan provides free calling to other Tin Cans (and 911) and is included with every device, no subscription required. The Party Line Subscription ($9.99/month or $99/annually) lets your kid call approved external numbers (e.g. grandma, friends, your own cell, and more). As always, only callers you approve can communicate with your Tin Can.

  • Can I move to the Party Line later?

Yes! You can upgrade your plan anytime from the Tin Can website. Just open the drop-down menu, go to Manage Account, and select Update Subscription.

  • If I decide to move to the Party Line later will I still get a free 30-day trial?

Absolutely, once you upgrade your account via Tin Can website, the 30-day trial will be automatically applied to your billing cycle.

  • When will I be charged for my subscription?

After your 30 day trial, your subscription will officially begin and the charge will go through on the card associated with your account. The Party Line is $9.99/month or $99/annually and renews automatically until you cancel.

  • Can I gift someone the Party Line subscription?

Sure thing, just send us an email support@tincan.kids and we can get the credits applied to their account!

  • Can I have more than one Tin Can at home?

Yes! You can have multiple devices on the same number or give each Tin Can its own separate number — whatever works best for your family.

  • Can siblings share one device?

Yes, definitely. They can share a device, but keep in mind it will be one shared phone number, contact list, and voicemail. If you want each child to have their own number, contacts, and voicemail, you’ll want one Tin Can per child.

  • I have multiple devices - how do I set them up?

To set up multiple devices in the Tin Can app, follow the instructions for your specific situation:

    • Adding an Additional Device
    • Open the Tin Can app and ensure you are signed in with the correct email address.
    • Tap "Add Tin Can" at the top of the app screen.
    • Follow the standard setup steps to connect the device to your Wi-Fi.

    Choose your setup type:

    • Link to an existing line (Shared Number): Choose this if you want the new device to share a phone number, contact list, and voicemail with a device already on your account. This is ideal for a "house phone" setup where both devices ring at once. In this scenario, the phones won’t be able to call each other because they share a line.
    • Give it its own number (Separate Line): Choose this if you want the new device to have a unique phone number and its own private contact list and voicemail. This requires a separate subscription if you are using the Party Line Plan.
  • Can I manage multiple devices from one app?

Absolutely. The Tin Can App lets you switch between devices to:

    • Add or remove contacts
    • Manage voicemail
    • Control calling permissions
    • View settings for each phone
  • If multiple Tin Cans share the same number, will you join a call if you pick up another device?

Tin Can only supports one active call at a time per number. All linked devices will ring, but the first one picked up gets the call. Other devices will hear a busy or “line in use” signal. The Party Line Plan allows calls to external numbers, but it doesn’t enable multiple devices to join the same call.

  • Will each device in my home have a separate number?

When setting up multiple devices at home, you have 2 options:

    • Separate Lines (Individual Numbers): You can give each Tin Can its own dedicated phone number. This setup is recommended if you want each child to have their own private contact list and voicemail. If you’d like each line to make external calls, you’ll need two Party Line plans, one for each line.
    • Shared Line (Single Number): You can link multiple physical devices to one existing line. In this "house phone" style setup, all linked Tin Cans will ring simultaneously when that single number is called. They will also share the same contact list and voicemail. Since they share a number, they will not be able to call each other.

  • Can Tin Cans call each other?

Yes! As long as both numbers are approved in the app — it’s perfect for friends, cousins, or grandparents with their own Tin Can.

  • Can I add the same contact to multiple Tin Cans?

Yes. You can approve the same parent, grandparent, or trusted contact on multiple Tin Can phones.

  • I still need help deciding how many Tin Cans to order.
    • One kid? One Tin Can.
    • Sharing nicely? One Tin Can.
    • Want independence (and fewer “it’s my turn!” moments)? One Tin Can per kid. 😄
  • What happens if I cancel one line?

If a line is canceled, that specific Tin Can will no longer be able to make or receive calls. Other Tin Cans on your account are not affected.

  • Can I move a Tin Can to a different account later?

Yes. If you need to transfer a phone to a different parent account, reach out to support@tincan.kids and we’ll help you get it sorted.
